“Yoga does not transform the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees”.
B.K.S Iyengar
I first started yoga back in 2012, to complement my running and cycling, I was soon hooked! For me yoga is a way of getting out of the thinking mind and into the physical body, a way of grounding and training yourself to live in the present moment.
I completed my teacher training at Yoga London in 2017. As a teacher, I want to give my students a feeling of strength and empowerment, and to make them feel confident and content in themselves.
I teach vinyasa flow classes, with a focus on anatomy and creative sequencing. I feel it’s important to allow the body time to settle into the asana/pose, and to move with consideration and control. Holding poses for slightly longer gives us the opportunity to practice breathing in a calm and controlled manner, through any unwanted feelings or distractions that may arise.
This is the most valuable lesson we can take from our yoga practice - to carry through a quiet inner calm and determination into our day to day lives, using the breath as a buffer against life’s stresses and challenges.
